EcoTexas Welcomes a New Member Into the Family!

January 20, 2009 For Immediate Release

AUSTIN, TX - Joseph Timmons, 18, has been formally appointed EcoTexas Operations Director and will assume duties immediately.

“It is my profound pleasure to welcome Joseph to our EcoTexas family,” EcoTexas Founder, President, and Executive Director Jordan Sessler, 17, said. “Joseph has been an integral part of EcoTexas’ success over the past few years and our series of advancements within the past six months. There is no one more fit for the job.”

Timmons, a senior at LASA High School, has worked as a volunteer and organizer with EcoTexas for over two years and maintains a strong dedication to the EcoTexas cause to reduce the threat of invasive plants and animals to Central Texas. Consequently, his appointment was confirmed unanimously at a January 13, 2009 Board meeting.

Timmons is expected to continue to pursue the growth of EcoTexas as a community organization simultaneously raising awareness about the threat of invasives while utilizing youthful volunteerism and enthusiasm to physically remove such harmful invasives from local, Central Texas preserves.

“It is my honor to accept this position and play even a small role in the growth and success of EcoTexas,” Timmons said. “I can’t wait to help make a difference.”

Asked what the biggest challenge facing EcoTexas is, Timmons expounded that “it is unfathomable that so many people within the community are unaware of a problem that causes billions of dollars in damage each year. However, the energy and enthusiasm to rectify this situation is inspirational. As along as we can continue to channel this enthusiasm productively, EcoTexas will make great strides and the Central Texas community at large will benefit.”

“Over the past few years, we have been humbled by the support lent to and faith placed in what was originally group of teenagers with the simple aim of making Texas a better place,” Sessler said. “Every decision we have made was made with the intent of rendering our supporters proud and our community a better place. I am confident that Joseph will help us to do this effectively.”

It is the pleasure of everyone at EcoTexas to welcome Timmons to our family of volunteers.
